Asterion Asset Management works from an office on Jasper Avenue in downtown Edmonton. Its principals invest the firm’s capital in established private companies and, in smaller amounts, early-stage ventures.
Why we hold for a long time
Our capital has no fixed term, so there is no set date for a sale. A holding can be kept through a flat year, and a private company can be given many years to mature. For an owner, that means a shareholder with no date to sell by.
The principals do the work themselves: they meet the owners, read the accounts, make the decision and take the board seat. That limits how many companies we can hold, which is deliberate. We do not publicize our holdings.
